A NEW RULE IN MARYLAND THREATENS TO FINE REAL ESTATE AGENTS up to $5,000 if they violate a new state Real Estate Commission regulation. Agents who make referrals to their clients for Mortgage Lenders and other service providers are required to make them in writing, to verify that the provider has a current state license, to state the last date which the agent checked the state-licensing database, and provide an electronic link to the licensing record.
