If Michigan winters get you down, we've got a sure cure. Chase those winter blues away by taking a clay class at Yourist Studio Gallery.
We offer a variety of winter classes for students of all levels and ages:
- Beginning/Continuing Wheel Throwing
Give the wheel a whirl. Learn the basics of pottery making on the wheel or polish skills you have already acquired. Classes are available on Monday and Thursday. First class starts January 16. - Coffee & Clay - Hand Building Techniques
Using your hands, shape clay into plates, bowls, cups, mugs, vases, and any other vessels you can imagine. Your Saturday mornings will never be the same. Class begins January 21. - Kids Clay (ages 8 to 11)
Now the fun begins. Come to the studio after school to explore both hand building and the pottery wheel. Class meets on Mondays starting January 23. - Advanced Wheel
Challenge yourself. Sharpen your technique and pick up new tips and tricks while developing your mastery of clay in this 14-week class that starts January 11.

Mini classes for the time-challenged
No matter how busy you are, you can now make time in your schedule to play with clay thanks to The Washtenaw Community College Lifelong Learning Program. WCC is offering a pair of two-week, project-focused classes in hand building during the winter semester.  | Students watch closely

The classes will be taught here at Yourist Studio Gallery by popular instructor Nancy Bulkley. Each class will meet twice for an hour and a half. During the first meeting you will make a clay vessel and during the second meeting you will glaze it. Sign up and you will go home with a mug or a vase, or both if you take both classes: Mugs mini class: Create and design your very own ceramic mug using clay slabs and paper templates. Your finished pieces will be dishwasher and food safe and will make a wonderful drinking vessel for yourself or a friend. Meets January 30 and February 13.
Vases mini class: Make a container for yourself or a friend to hold flowers all year round. You can create a variety of hand built shapes with different shaped slabs, embellish them with stamps and fabric texture, and enhance them with handles. Meets February 20 and March 12.

Discover the allure of clay If you're burning with curiosity about what attracts people to clay, discover its allure with the Yourist Studio Gallery "Try it Once" Experience with Clay. Schedule a one-time guided clay experience and make something at the wheel or on the table that you can take home and tell everyone "I made this myself."
