With the first frost, West Virginia's 2015 farming season is entering its final phase, but that doesn't mean there isn't an incredible amount of upcoming conferences, workshops, and opportunities to grow our local food movement. Today, we're excited to announce a new initiative: The West Virginia Co-op Collaborative. The Collaborative will help businesses & individuals use the opportunities created by last year's expansion of the cooperative business statute last winter through the passage of SB352.
Also worth highlighting is the beginning of a large project by our friends at the Coalfield Development Corporation, Refresh Appalachia. This is a "regional economic and workforce development initiative to establish a sustainable training and development program to increase the success of beginning farmers and ranchers in West Virginia, the Mid-Ohio Valley Region, and eastern Kentucky." Great work will be done here, and we can't wait to see how it develops!
See you in the field!
