WV Food & Farm Coalition News
Dear

Fall has hit West Virginia! And that means a tremendous amount of local food activity is happening all over the state, and this newsletter is brimming over with everything you need to keep you up-to-date.

There are a couple of exciting stories we'd like to highlight here. One of our board members, Mike Kwasniewski, owner of The Charm Farm, was featured in Civil Eats in the article What if One Farm Raised (Almost) Everything You Ate? Great work as always, Mike!

And over at the WV Gazette-Mail, Shelly Keeney of The Wild Ramp wrote an excellent Op-Ed about the need to update West Virginia's laws regarding Cottage Food. This will be a policy issue for The Coalition in 2016.

Thanks for reading, and have a happy fall!

The Southeast Regional Foodshed Gathering will be held at Cecil H. Underwood Youth Center at the WV State Fair Grounds in Fairlea, WV on Monday, November 2nd from 8:00AM - 4:00PM.

Trainings on hands on farm skills, as well as the business of farming will be available. Meet your peers, learn about service providers, and enjoy locally sourced food! Register here!

The second Request for Application (RFA) for FINI was announced on Tuesday, October 6th by the USDA. $16.8 million will be distributed to eligible organizations implementing programs that incentivize Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants to purchase fruits and vegetables.
