We Tried Our Best
Dear DOD readers,
As the founder of our small but mighty organization, it is with a sigh of sadness that I write this column to share that your Board of Directors have decided to place Dance Out Diabetes in an inactive state after the September dance.
This means we will no longer hold dances after 9/12/15, and the next 3 dances are no charge.
As much as we tried to continue with our volunteer-based model, the time it takes to run a non-profit organization was beyond what we could sustain. We had difficulty finding enough funding to keep us going beyond covering the expenses of operations. What we need is funding to pay for staff that can dedicate their efforts to our cause. To juggle the demands of an organization is a challenge in and of itself; to do so on top of regular jobs and family responsibilities is too much to ask and is not sustainable. We did hold this model together and enjoyed 5 years of dancing together, but now it is time for our next chapter.
In an inactive state, we will keep the website online as it has many resources. We will need to retain enough funds in reserve to cover those expenses. If we do have anything left over in reserves, we will offer small incentives at the September dance.
So please come and join us for these last 3 months. Let's get some more time on the dance floor together.
