Disco Mix with DJ Charis
this Saturday
6/14/14, 1-3 p.m.!
(Download flyer & share with others HERE)

DJ Charis Join DJ Charis in an exciting afternoon of dancing to Disco music! Some of the well-know late 1970s disco performers include Donna Summer, the Bee Gees, KC and the Sunshine Band, and the Jacksons. Be sure to wear your '70s attire to this Disco dance party with DJ Charis!

Join us at the African American Art & Culture Complex located at 762 Fulton Street, San Francisco, CA 94102 (Muni access & free parking).

No need to register. Just show up! You get a $277 value health screening, and if you dance, collect $10 in carrot cash to spend at participating farmers' markets (for kids with diabetes and all adults who participate). The health screening is optional, but it is needed to get the carrot cash reward. We suggest a $10 donation at the door, if you can afford.

Please arrive promptly at 1 p.m. for check-in (or 1:15 p.m. if you are not doing the health screening). Bring water, a snack if you need it, and comfortable shoes. Have a question? Call Theresa at 1-877-765-4386 or email her at tgarnero@danceoutdiabetes.org.

Congrats to DOD's New RD and NPs!

Let's give a big shout out to our dedicated volunteers who have joined the professional ranks and are now nurse practitioners (NP) and a registered dietitian (RD)!

What an honor to be involved with their journey and watch them flourish.

Arielle Bivas, NP

Can You Bring Water & Snacks to Share?

It is important to stay hydrated while having fun on the dance floor. Dance Out Diabetes is looking for volunteers to donate and bring water bottles and healthy snacks for participants at the dance. If you can bring to share, great! Otherwise, the water fountain is 3 floors down, so please bring water for yourself. Thanks!

Theresa's Message

June is a hectic and fun month in the field of diabetes. San Francisco is the host city for the international American Diabetes Association (ADA) Scientific Sessions, which starts this Thursday, and runs through next Tuesday. Of course, smack in the middle are 2 DOD events! (So, please excuse any delays in replies to emails and calls this week!)

The first, is our Disco Mix with DJ Charis. Please join us for a free dance to favorite classics this Saturday. She will spin it up right. Should you have a particular request, email her at dj@danceoutdiabetes.org.

The second, is my presentation at the ADA wherein I will share our 2013 program outcomes on Sunday eve. For healthcare professionals, colleagues and DOD participants, you are invited to hear my brief overview, then be entertained by the So You Think You Can Dance alumni dances, Fik-Shun and Janette Manrara (BIG deal for fans in the know).
See attached flyer and RSVP by Tuesday, 6/10!

P.S. You are welcome to dress up for disco; since I will twirl on in from ADA, I won't be in costume this time.

Here is to your health!

Warmly,
