Keeping up with Dance Out Diabetes!

Zumba Gold is BACK this Saturday
10/12/13, 1-3 pm PST! *
(Download flyer & share with others HERE)

Let the phenomenal instructor Rossy Leon show you the moves to Zumba - a dance fitness program that combines Latin and international music with steps based on salsa, merengue, cumbia, reggaeton and samba that makes exercise fun. The "Gold" part means it is an easier version of Zumba. Of course, Zumba is a blast and an easy way to burn calories without even realizing it.

Online Cash & Care for Wellness Program Overall Winner: Kang!
Congratulations to Kang, our top winner for the month of September AND our top winner for the overall Wellness Program this year! Kang logged the most activities and got the most points. He will receive $50 for his efforts in September as well as 1 hour with an RN, CDE and 1 hour with an RD, CDE. That's a $500 value!
September was the final month of the online portion of the Dance Out Diabetes Cash & Care for Wellness Program. Don't worry, you can still earn $$$ by participating in this Saturday's Zumba Gold event.

We also thank NovoNordisk for funding this innovative program.
Dreamfields Grant & Carrot Cash
DOD was a recipient of a Dreamfields' 50 States/50 Plates Health Initiative grant, which will help provide the necessary funds for "Carrot Cash" gift cards you can use at your local Farmers' Market.
You can earn up to $20 in Carrot Cash by participating in the Zumba Gold class this Saturday (10/12) and getting the full health screenings. Dreamfields has also donated boxes of wholewheat pasta, so don't forget to pick up your free box at the dance.

Dear DOD family,

A BIG thanks to all our volunteers!
After the Zumba dance, volunteers will be honored with a special meal at a local restaurant. (All volunteers have been emailed separately as to the location. If you haven't RSVP'd please do so by 10/9/13). Our model works because of the talents of our volunteer pool and individuals that give their time and heart into our work. So it is time to celebrate!

We are also lining up the dances for 2014 and have your recommendations as we organize instructors.
