Did you know.....
that peanut allergy is most common in infants but may appear for the first time in adulthood.

Two studies in the USA and UK have shown that peanut allergy doubled over a five year period.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction to peanuts can include skin reactions, vomiting, diarrhoea and shortness of breath.

If one of your patients presents with a severe allergic reaction it should be treated as a medical emergency as it could be life threatening.

TOP TIP FOR ACCREDITATION
Our administration staff participate in training relevant to their role in the practice.

The surveyors will ask to see evidence that your administration staff have had training relevant to their role in the practice.

This training can include formal courses or can be 'on-the-job' training provided by other staff members. It is particularly important that administration staff receive triage training so they can recognise when there is a medical emergency and prioritise appointments.

Administration staff also need to have CPR training at least every three years - this can be conducted by clinical staff within the practice or through an accredited training provider.

Handy Hint: Use the Training Register on knowNOW! under Accreditation/Training to keep a record of all your staff training - if you need help using this please contact support@knownow.com.au.
