Some time ago we were invited to Design 2 Hotel Shopping Arcades in Mexico,
one at the Omni Cancun Hotel the other at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess.
Both very different jobs were turn-key where we provided
Design and all the FF&E for an opening or set time.
Our designs communicated Visually with the costumer through aesthetic composition, I call them "Old Stores". "New Stores"engage the customer digitally as well, which is now happening around the world. Wait and see if you haven't already.
Galleria Concorde. Random checkerboard floor, reflective ceiling, backlit photography. Graphics by our L.A. friend and Cancun's logo creator Joe Vera, Vera Design.
Frosted glass covering the rooms shafts. Recessed photography into glass panels.
Galileo at the Fairmont Princess
We invited our Napa Valley Venetian friend Carlo Marchiori to do the store Mural.
Omni Cancun Hotel.
In about 6 months we designed and built 14 stores, 11 for imaginary vendors where we also selected the mix. The operators came and made some changes, but it worked well.
Fairmont Acapulco Princess Hotel.
We worked at the Princess over 15 years, gradually redoing the Arcade and stores. First we did an Aca Joe store, then another, then a few stores; travel agency, jewelry store, drugstore and bikinis, we came back again and designed a cafeteria, a swim suit store, and finally Galileo a formal wear store(shown above).
Many thanks to the owners and Chief executives of both projects
for their kind support and preference.
Enjoy traveling to Mexico and visiting Mexico City and coastal resorts like Cancun and Los Cabos.
