DRI President

Rhinelander Cafe & PubMy term as President of DRI is now near its end. As I look forward to continuing my work supporting DRI as the future past-president, I have spent a few minutes looking backwards at our accomplishments of the last couple of years. Our organization encouraged our city to move forward on the needed improvements to our downtown water and sewer infrastructure, and we now have a firm timeline. Our organization initiated Potatofest, which has grown and is headed towards a "signature" event for our community. A faade grant was initiated, which we hope will result in some significant investment in our faades, and a plan to add parking space and remove blight was developed.....which will improve our appearance along Stevens Street as several buildings are removed. In addition to these initiatives, many programs have been retained, and our executive director, Maggie Steffen, continues to grow and evolve in her leadership role. None of these things could have happened without the incredible support from our volunteers and the community as a whole. A huge shout-out to anyone and everyone who has participated and assisted DRI as we strive to rejuvenate a changing downtown. Thank you to everyone for the hard work and dedication. A special thank you goes out to Sally Latimer, our outgoing past-president. Her support and guidance was a huge help to me. Look forward to our incoming president, Dan Kuzlik, writing this column for the next newsletter. Happy Holidays to all. Mark

Mainstreet with Maggie Happy Holidays to All! There is no better place to experience the holiday than in your own downtown. The place is truly aglow with lights and decorations, full of that hometown feeling we all yearn for this time of year. The season is embraced by the businesses, shops, restaurants, and pubs and it is something that you should experience. Whether you're celebrating with friends, enjoying your family, or shopping for the holiday, we hope to see you downtown and wish you all that the season has to offer. Wishing you a holiday to remember, DRI Executive Director |
