Happy Wednesday Coaches:
Well Coaches, this Sunday marks the end of the Fall season for Evanston AYSO! While I wish our Assistant Commissioner could order up another 70 degree day to close things out, it looks like the weather will be on the chilly side, though lots of sunshine!
As we look to wrap up the season, there are four quick items for your attention:
INJURIES AND PROCEDURES:
Coaches, this past Sunday we had our first injury that required hospital treatment. One of our young players suffered a broken arm during the course of play.
I take this opportunity first to commend the coaches for both their attitude and approach to the family (the assistant visited a couple of area hospitals to try and see his player) and to AYSO - the coaches reported the incident to us promptly that same day.
Secondly, I would like to issue a reminder to ALL coaches that it is IMPERATIVE that you have parents sign the Emergency Authorization forms that were provided in your pack at Coach Kick Off. In this particular case, the parents were in attendance and were able to transport their child to the hospital. This will NOT always be the case. For your protection and for the protection of our players, if you have not yet done so, please make sure these forms are completed by the parents, and hang on to them for the Spring.
ROSTERS:
Note that your rosters will remain in tact for Spring 2013. We know that some teams are short a player or two, and that there will be some attrition in the off season. We are compiling the wait list for the Spring and will do our best to distribute players to those teams in need.
Therefore, we are asking all of you to review your rosters in EAYSO. If there are players who have dropped, never turned up, etc. and you are short, please send us an email with the following:
- Your name
- Age Bracket-Gender / Team Number (eg. U08B - 17)
- Name(s) of dropped players
- Number of players you need for a complete Roster
We will work on this during the off season and work to fill the gaps.
TROPHIES:
A number of you have emailed asking when the Trophy Ceremony is taking place: On the last day of the Spring 2013 Season! Each player receives one trophy for participation in a full season, Fall and Spring.
On the last day of the Spring Season, you will head to the James Park Shed prior to starting your last game. When you arrive at the Shed, you will drop off your Coach Bag and turn in your player ratings. Once we have those two items, we will release a box with your trophies. More information to come on this next year, just an FYI for now.
YOUR FEEDBACK:
We know that this season has not been free of bumps in the road. Some things we have done well; in some areas we recognize that have fallen short.
Nick and I feel strongly about gathering your feedback on the Fall season: The Good, The Bad and The Downright Ugly. Therefore, in the next week or so, we will be sending you a short online survey (5-10 questions and free form space for comments) and ask that you complete it. Your feedback will allow us to make some adjustments for the Spring and additional changes for the 2013-14 season. Please do not reply to this email with your feedback, but rather wait for the survey!
Please understand that we will not be able to incorporate all of your suggestions. We will read all of the responses and communicate back to you those changes we can and will make.
In closing, AYSO soccer cannot happen without YOU. Over the last two months, you have coached, mentored and developed our young players. Nick and I are deeply grateful for your contributions. Based on the feedback we have received from parents, you are doing a great job.
Every Sunday, Nick and I spend some time walking the fields and casually observing games before and after we coach our own teams. Every week we see coaches engaged, players having fun and parents cheering on their young players. YOU have created this positive atmosphere and YOU deserve all the credit for yet another wonderful season!
Thank you for all that you do, and we hope to see you on the Pitch!
