Class of 2017: NDA's first iPad Class!!
We're in the midst of an exciting transition to iPads at NDA, with the Class of 2017 leading the way. The freshmen were instructed to arrive at school with an iPad to use, and nearly all of their textbooks are available as digital books, reducing the load in their backpacks and lockers. The Freshman Welcome Day primarily focused on iPad skills to help the students come prepared for classes. So far, the freshmen are doing a great job of working with their teachers to make the best use of this exciting tool as they aim for success in all their courses. Next year we will expand the program to the Classes of 2016 and 2018, so plan ahead!

PGA Tour
NDA and The PGA - A winning combination for four years!
We are delighted to share with you that we are once again working with the Northern Trust Open and its Tickets-Fore-Charity program. From February 12-16, 2014, the best PGA golfers in the world will come to the beautiful and historic Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades to play in the Northern Trust Open.  80% of the profits from every ticket sold by NDA goes to NDA!!20% of the profits from every ticket sold by NDA goes to The City of Hope.We encourage you to 'spread the word' to family, friends, neighbors and co-workers, from golf enthusiasts to those who enjoy seeing professional athletes up-close and personal. Congratulations to Monique Sheps '15, who was just crowned Junior Miss California!!
Chelsea Barker '14 participated in a four week Theater Intensive and was selected to receive the 2013 Herb Alpert Scholarship for Emerging Young Artists. This scholarship provides $40,000 towards college tuition. Way to go Chelsea!!
Carol Hoffstedt, NDA math teacher, and Patricia Chua '16, attended Pepperdine University for a two week workshop on blending the use of digital media tools to make classroom short videos.
Mrs. Portman, NDA Religion teacher, lead a service immersion trip in Guatemala with four NDA students. Cassidy Eiland '16, Noreen McGonigle '15, Hannah Marquis '16, Larissa Peltola '14.
Ms. Faris, NDA AP Psych and Religion teacher, attended Yale University for the GLI summer seminar on Slave Narratives in American Literature with renowned Professor David Blight.

4th Annual Crimson and Gold Kick-off BBQ Saturday, September 7, 2013
 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the NDA Gymnasium
Come kick off and celebrate the 2013-2014 sports seasons at the Crimson and Gold BBQ at NDA. If your child plays a sport, or is interested in playing a sport at NDA, this is a great opportunity to meet the coaches and other athletes! We are serving hot dogs, chicken breast, fruit, chips, and cookies! All the food is provided, no need to bring a side dish, just show up and enjoy! You can purchase your tickets from Mrs. Tureaud's office for $8 per person, or $30 per family of four. Tickets are PRE-SALE only through Friday, September 6th. No tickets will be sold at the door.
