Saturday, December 7, 2012 at 7 p.m., NDA's fine arts departments will present a wonderful show full of talented students from the Art and Art History, Choir, Dance, and Drama Departments. This year's show will also include
Java Lounge, NDA's poetry club.  Come be entertained and enjoy
the talents of NDA's young women.

Don't forget that the Second Annual Student Entrepreneur Day will be this Thursday, December 6, 2012.  Students and faculty will sell their handmade items during E period and lunch in the gym. Students are encouraged to support their classmates. The perfect holiday gift awaits.

                    Sister Strikes Again!

There is already a lot of buzz about Sister Strikes Again! performing on the Notre Dame Academy stage on March 16, 2013!  The wonderful evening will begin with "Dinner Under the Stars," then the incomparable Sister followed by an exciting live and silent auction.  We hope you and/or your company will consider being a sponsor at what promises to be a very popular and well attended event (please review all the good publicity possibilities on the attached forms).  We also hope you, your company or your community contacts will consider donating an auction item.  We need your help to ensure a highly successful auction. On Saturday at the Grenoble Cadet European Epee Cup in France, NDA freshman, Kasia Nixon (pictured on the right) earned the bronze medal! Kasia competed for two days from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. with only a few breaks every couple of hours. In the individual competition, Kasia competed amazingly and beat #3 fencer in the world in Cadet division (17 years old and younger). Congratulations Kasia!!





Our NDA Families met for a third time this year and made Christmas stocking. We are FAMILY!
Mock Trial
 
Mock Trial participated in the Los Angeles Constitutional Right Foundation Mock Trial Competition on November 14, 2012. NDA's team led by NDA teachers/attorneys, Cheryl Faris and Dorothy Ceccon, won their first round and tied the second round.
Great job NDA!!
AP Art History students visit the Getty Villa


On Monday, November 26, 2012 Ms. Beauvy took her AP Art History class to visit the Getty Villa. The students reviewed for their final by looking at Greek and Roman art. Within the collection, the girls even saw a possible modern forgery of a
Kouros (530 BC) for which the Getty paid $7 million.

BASKETBALL AND SOCCER BEGIN THEIR SEASONS

The Notre Dame Academy basketball and soccer teams will open up the season this week with tournament play. Varsity Basketball will be competing in the St. Monica Tournament while JV will play at Long Beach Millikan.

 

Varsity Soccer has opened non-league play with a tie against Beverly Hills and a win against Animo Leadership. Varsity will be competing in the prestigious South Torrance Holiday Classic over the next two weekends, and JV will be traveling south to Ocean View High School for their tournament on Saturday, December 8.

 
NDA parents, come be a part of the Regal Gryphon SPIRIT (Supporting Proud Individuals Representing Integrity and Teamwork) program to assist athletics. Our members are actively involved with their respective sports teams as team parent(s), scorekeepers, meal coordinators, and announcers.
