Ash Wednesday Service February 10

ash wednesday Our Lenten journey begins with the age old practice of imposition of ashes tonight. The ashes on our foreheads are a recognition of our mortality, save for the grace of God. It is traditional that palms used during the previous year's Palm Sunday service are burned to create the ashes. The service will be held at 7:00 p.m.  Please join us for this ancient rite as we begin the Lenten journey together...from the ashes of death to resurrected life in Jesus Christ.

A Recap.......
Fat Tuesday Celebration - February 9
Jazz in the Parking Lot and Fish Fry

Jazz in the Parking Lot
and Fish Fry 2016
What a great turnout for our annual Fat Tuesday celebration. The aroma of catfish/ shrimp/hush puppies and music from the Marvin Gaspard Trio filled the air as more than 250 people mingled in our south parking lot.  Our guest vocalist, Cynthia Clawson, was a special treat for everyone! The evening was perfect and lots of our neighbors came by to join the fun and food. It was a great time to meet neighbors, and make new friends.  We all had such fun!  Thanks for coming out and if you didn't make it out, just remember to add it to your calendar for next year.  Here are a few photos from last night.  If you have some photos you would like to share, please email to mawhite@stlukespres.org.

St. Luke's Dinner Club
Join us for our first Dinner Club event of the year on Tuesday, February 16.  We will have dinner at Hunan's and honor Martin and Nohemi on the upcoming birth of their son in March. Our Dinner Club normally meets on Mondays every month or so and enjoys trying out new restaurants and visiting some old favorites.  Hunan's is a favorite of many of our members for Sunday lunch, so let's get together for a good meal and a time to celebrate with Martin and Nohemi.

A Closing Prayer

Thanks by to you, Lord, Jesus Christ, for all you have done for us. Open up for us the work we should do and the path we should follow so that we might rise up and be your disciples.  Grant to us the optimism of Easter, the patience of Jesus Christ, the sense of triumph that goes with what we believe so that we might grasp this for our lives, for our nation, and for the world. Amen.                           by Robert D. Young, from Let Us Pray
