Rev. Scott Harbison
You're cordially invited!  Please come to our annual Congregational Meeting as we present to the congregation our reports from the past year and our 2016 budget. We are very excited as we have worked diligently and feel that we have made major headway on our deficit this year. Please come and hear how 2015 was and how good 2016 will be.

You are also invited for soup!  I have personally eaten two of the three 3 soups and I can personally tell you that if you are not at our Souper Bowl Lunch YOU ARE MISSING OUT!

I hope everyone had a great week and I will see you on Sunday.

Love,
Scott signature

Sunday worship and a day to honor Marvin

Skyping with Fairfax
Sunday's worship service included a time to honor Marvin Gaspard and his 20 years of service at St. Luke's as Music Director, Organist & Choir-master. In addition to words of thanks from Rev. Harbison and Rev. Dr. Bill Wade, former pastor, Rev. Dr. Fairfax Fair was included in a Skype conversation with Marvin during the service.  Carol Wilson prepared a 2nd edition of the Marvin Gaspard Chronicle which is a must read!  A reception was held in Marvin's honor immediately after worship. Thank you, Marvin for your gifts and your ministry to St. Luke's

Ash Wednesday Service February 10

ash wednesday Our Lenten journey begins with the imposition of ashes on Ash Wednesday. The ashes on our foreheads are a recognition of our mortality, save for the grace of God. It is traditional that palms used during the previous year's Palm Sunday service are burned to create the ashes for imposition. The service will be held at 7:00 p.m.  Please plan on joining us for this ancient rite as we begin the Lenten journey together next week from the ashes of death to resurrected life in Jesus Christ.

Fat Tuesday Celebration - February 9
Jazz in the Parking Lot and Fish Fry

Jazz in the Parking Lot
and Fish Fry 2016
Celebrate Fat Tuesday on February 9 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in our south parking lot!  The Marvin Gaspard Trio will provide the jazz tunes with special guest and friend of St. Luke's, Cynthia Clawson, as vocalist. Cynthia  has received a Grammy and five Dove awards for her work as a songwriter, vocal artist, and musician. We look forward to having her with us on Tuesday evening. Dinner will be prepared on site by Catfish on Wheels with their delicious catfish, shrimp, hush\puppies and french fries.  Cost for your meal is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 10. Everyone will gather in the south parking lot where there will be a tent available in case of inclement weather.

A Closing Prayer

We are aware, O God, of the marvelous gifts that have come from your hand and have profoundly enriched our lives. But keep us, we pray, from being so focused on the gifts that we forget the giver. Help us find ways of expressing our praise, speaking our words of thanks and sharing the gifts with others. In Christ's name we pray. Amen.                                                         by Mark Landfried from Let Us Pray
