Rev. Harbison
This is just to remind you that next week is the Live Nativity (December 9)  and we have lots of work to do.  Please set aside some time and join us here at the church as we celebrate Christ's birth. We are beginning a little earlier this year so make sure you get everyone in your family and neighborhood involved. We need cookies, actors, crowd herders and friendly faces on December 9th with our first performance at 6 p.m.

Take care, God bless, see you then.

Quan Jiang is our special musical guest on December 13. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1997 and was a founding member of the award-winning Gotham Quartet. Quan has been a member of the first violin section of the Houston Symphony and is in demand as a soloist and chamber musician. No stranger to St. Luke's, Quan has been a guest soloist with our choir many times over the past few years. He lives in Houston with his wife, Chizu and daughter, Mitsuki. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us, Quan, and welcome back to St. Luke's!

Live Nativity December 9

Nativity We welcome the opportunity to share Live Nativity with our neighbors and like to think of this special evening as St. Luke's gift to the community. Won't you join us as we take a break from the hustle and bustle of the season and return to the manger again this year? Re-enactments will take place at 6 & 7 p.m. We'll have some refreshments ready for you when you arrive.

Poinsettias for our Sanctuary

Each year St. Luke's chancel is filled with beautiful poinsettias last two weeks of Advent. If you would like to provide a plant in memory or in honor of a loved one, please fill out the form in Sunday's bulletin and let us know. Each plant is $10. On Christmas Eve a list is printed with names of donors and the people who have been honored. You can take your plant home after the Christmas Eve service. You can also click HERE for the form and mail it to the church, 8915 Timberside Drive, Houston, TX 77025.

A Closing Prayer

Eternal God,
you taught us that the night is far spent
and the day is at hand.
Keep us awake and alert, watching for your kingdom,
and make us strong in faith,
so that when Christ comes in glory to judge the earth,
we may joyfully give him praise;
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever.  Amen.                           from The Book of Common Worship
