A few notes for the coming weeks. -
We desperately need to recommit ourselves to the food ministry here at St Luke's. I'm asking each member to bring one can of food a month. That's over 100 cans a month of food that will help people in need who live in our community. I know we often forget in the rush of getting out on a Sunday morning. So, I encourage you to set a reminder on your phone, maybe tie a bag of food on your door so you have to take it with you as you leave the house, or when you buy your groceries leave the bag with your donations in your car. Any way you can remember ... this ministry is an important part of our congregation and I hope you will participate.
- Don't forget that we are currently soliciting donations for our Pastor's Discretionary Fund. This is the fund that allows me to help members of the community or our congregation in times of need. Please prayerfully consider and donate generously this week.
- Stewardship will begin November 1 this year. That's an appropriate day as that is also All Saints Sunday. It will close on November 22 with our Thanksgiving Sunday. No one likes stewardship campaigns but they're an important part of what it means to be a follower of Christ. I hope you will prayerfully consider your giving to the church.
God Bless,

Pillowcases Needed for Youth Mission Project
| Little Dresses for Africa |
The young people of St. Luke's will attend the 2015 Fall Youth Rally at Spring Branch Presbyterian Church on October 18. The Youth Rally mission project is to make pillowcase dresses to send to girls in Africa through the organization Little Dresses for Africa. Churches are being asked to donate pillowcases for the project. Monetary donations can also be made by making checks payable to: "Little Dresses for Africa." Pillowcases and checks need to be at St. Luke's on the morning of October 18 so our youth group can take them to the Rally.

A Closing Prayer
Eternal God, open our eyes to see your hand at work in the splendor of creation and in the beauty of human life. Touched by your hand, our world is holy. Help us to cherish the gifts that surround us, to share our blessings with our sisters and brothers, and to experience the joy of life in your presence; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
