Today I'm writing to tell you about a new feature we are going to offer in the Wednesday Word. We want people to get to know one another here at St. Luke's, so we are going to start having a St. Luke's Spotlight. Each week we will ask you a few questions and put it in the Wednesday Word. For example: did you know that my favorite food is not fried chicken but boiled crawfish followed closely by perfectly fried southern catfish? Now you do! This is going to be a fun way to get to know our community of faith. You will be contacted soon and we hope that you will participate in this new exciting attempt at St. Luke's journalism.
In other news....we are in the process of designing a new website and will soon be meeting to get your input. Be on the lookout for more information coming soon. Love,

Chancel Choir Returns to the loft August 9! After a well deserved vacation our Chancel Choir returns to the loft on Sunday! We extend a special thanks to our own choir members and guest musicians who provided service music during those weeks. St. Luke's has long been blessed with such dedicated and talented musicians.

Longfellow Teacher Luncheon August 21 For eight years St. Luke's has opened it's doors to our neighborhood school for teachers and staff to have lunch together and kick off the fall semester. The people of St. Luke's are pleased to honor the teachers and staff as a way to say thanks for everything they do for the children in their care during the school year.
If you would like to help honor the teachers and support our Evangelism Committee in this project, please fill out the form in Sunday bulletins over the next two weeks. Volunteers are needed to host a table, serve food, set up, clean up, and provide school supplies to decorate the tables. Call the church office if you need more information. |

A Closing Prayer
Here we are, God, your children. We go astray, yet you forgive us. We get angry at others, but you keep loving us. We ask you for a thousand different things, and you respond by showering us with blessings. You offer us salvation, mercy, and love. Thank you, God, for inviting us into this grace-filled relationship. We pray in the name of the one who showed us what grace looks like, Jesus Christ. Amen. by Laura J. Bartlett, The Abingdon Worship Annual
