Jazz Communion July 5

Jazz Communion is awesome! Get ready to leave worship with a pep in your step after experiencing this tappin' and clappin' worship service on July 5 at 10:00 a.m. Worship will include a message from Rev. Harbison, communion, and the music of the Marvin Gaspard Trio, our Chancel Choir, and St. Luke's Ringers. Don't miss this special Sunday singing familiar hymns  with a jazzy edge and, as is our tradition to conclude the service with a rousing rendition of  "When the Saints Go Marching In".

All American Picnic

It's a perfect day to invite a friend or neighbor to join you for worship. Don't forget our annual All American Picnic following worship....hotdogs with all the extras and dessert are on the menu, so you can treat your guests to lunch too!

Help Cool Off the Youth Room!

The air conditioner serving our youth room needs to be replaced and our youth have offered to help! They will be selling raffle tickets for the next few weeks to raise money to help with the expense of replacing the A/C.  A couple of items in the raffle include a 50 inch Vizio Smart TV and a $200 VISA debit card.  Several other items will be announced soon. Buy a ticket and you might be a winner.....and you will also know that your money will go toward creating a space for our youth to call their own.  If you have something to donate to the raffle, speak to Rev. Harbison or Steve Hurysz.

The Little Free Library

Little Free Library

Books are needed for the "Little Free Library", children's books, novels, history, art books, or any kind of book in good condition. A basket is in the narthex for your donations.  A dedication date will be announced soon. Speak to Kathleen Kuznicki if you have any questions. Part of the library is already installed outside the sanctuary on Timberside.  Check it out!

Everything is Spiritual Tour comes to Houston

Rob Bell

Rev. Harbison used two of Rob Bell's books, "Love Wins" and "What We Talk About When We Talk About God", for his Bayou Manor Study Group. There was a great deal of interest and conversation generated when discussing these books. Rev. Harbison would like to continue the conversation and invite you to attend Rob Bell's "Everything is Spiritual Tour" with him July 12 at 8:30 p.m. in Cullen Hall on the University of Houston campus. Tickets range from $24.50-$29.50. A sign up sheet is coming soon or you can call the church office to add your name to the list.

A Closing Prayer

O God,
Walk with us
that we might always have perspective
about what is truly important in life.
Give us purpose and the assurance
that we are not alone
as we make our decisions
and face difficult times and situations.
Be the sure road beneath our feet and
our companion along the way.  Amen.                     by Robert D. Young, from Let Us Pray
