Little Free Library coming to St. Luke's

Our LFL will look something
 like this

The Bayou Manor Residents Association and St. Luke's are helping to make possible a community outreach project called "Little Free Library".  The "Little Free Library" program is a worldwide mission that promotes literacy and the love of reading among children and adults by building free book exchanges.

The little library is under construction by Brazos Towers at Bayou Manor resident Mr. Ken Caughron.  Within the next few weeks the little library will be installed on the property of St. Luke's. Children and adults from neighborhoods surrounding St. Luke's will be able to visit the little library and take a book home to read and leave a book for others to take home.  The little library will be maintained by volunteers.

Books are needed!  If you have children's books, novels, history books, art books - or any kind of book in good condition - please consider a donation to the "Little Free Library" project.  You may bring book donations to St. Luke's Monday - Friday between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm or on Sundays.

Thank you for your consideration!  We want this project to be successful....so bring on the books! For more information see www.littlefreelibrary.org.

Rob Bell in Houston
July 12

Rob Bell

Rev. Harbison used two of Rob Bell's books, "Love Wins" and "What We Talk About When We Talk About God", for his Bayou Manor Study Group. There was a great deal of interest and conversation generated when discussing his books. Rev. Harbison would like to continue the conversation and invite you to attend Rob Bell's "Everything is Spiritual"  tour appearance with him July 12 at 8:30 p.m. in Cullen Hall on the University of Houston campus. Tickets range from $24.50-$29.50. A sign up sheet is coming soon or you can call the church office to add your name to the list.

The Sandwich Sisters (and brothers!)

Looking for a fun and easy way to show God's love to others? Please join us each Thursday for "Sandwich Sisters" (and brothers!).  We meet from 9-11 a.m. and make over 500 sandwiches for the homeless at the Emergency Aid Coalition, 5401 Fannin St. 77004. Come whenever and stay for however long you can. Men and women of all ages are welcome.  You will be blessed by this ministry as you bless others!  For information/questions, please contact Laura Smith at [email protected].  See you there!

A Closing Prayer

Almighty God, you have called us to serve you,
yet without your grace
we are unable to please you.
Mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit
may in all things direct and rule our hearts;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,

who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.                                          from The Book of Common Worship
