National Moment of Remembrance Memorial Day, May 25, 2015
Memorial Day represents one day of national awareness and reverence, honoring those Americans who died while defending our Nation and its values. While we should honor these heroes every day for the profound contribution they have made to securing our Nation's freedom, we should honor them especially on Memorial Day. The National Moment of Remembrance Act of 2000 encourages Americans everywhere, to pause for one minute at 3:00 p.m. (local time) on Memorial Day, to remember and reflect on the sacrifices made by so many to provide freedom for all.

The Day of Pentecost Sunday, May 24
On the Day of Pentecost we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit descending in a mighty rush of wind and flame to inspire the church's proclamation of Christ's rising and to empower its mission and ministry to the world.
The notion of Easter as a season of 50 days ending at Pentecost is patterned after the ancient Jewish festival of seven weeks that extended from the beginning of the barley harvest to the end of the wheat harvest at the Festival of Weeks, which came to be called Pentecost, the 50th day.
This article is from our Presbytery's weekly e-newsletter, The Tuesday Connect. If you would like to subscribe, send an email to Helen Wolf, hwolf@pbyofnewcovenant.org.
It is our tradition at St. Luke's to wear red to worship on Pentecost Sunday. See you at worship on Sunday....and be sure to wear your red!

A Closing Prayer
O God, we thank you for the power of your light and that the darkness cannot overcome it. For all who bear witness to your light we give you thanks. Help us to speak the truth, to show acts of love, to have understanding as we relate to others, to be kind and gracious in our homes, and to be seekers for justice in our society. Make us more like Jesus Christ our Lord, and may his light illuminate our own darkness. Amen. by Robert D. Young from Let Us Pray
