Psalm 19:1-2

Rev. Harbison

I love these two verses of scripture and they are most appropriate at this time of year. There is no more beautiful time in Houston than the spring, or as we like to call it, "festival season". It's not too hot, everything is starting to bloom, and our usually climate extreme city gives us the best weather of the year.

We should take this time of year and use it to remember what a wonderful creation God has blessed us with. Go outside, fly a kite, feel the warmth of the sun on your skin, and the cool breeze as it sets on the horizon. God created a wonderful place for us to live. Let's enjoy it.

Remember, however, that God also gives us stewardship over this creation. Use the beautiful weather to find a way to serve God in the environment.  Plant a tree, restore a park . . . . work with countless volunteers who try to make our planet more sustainable and liveable.

Enjoy the weather, go outside and enjoy the creation that God has blessed us with. Most importantly, remember we are called to be stewards. Maybe we can all take care of this wonderful place we call home.

God Bless,

Holly Hall Book Review
Wednesday, March 25, 2015

March 25th Colleen Boudreaux will review The Searchers: The Making of an American Legend by Glenn Frankel. Before The Searchers was a blockbuster movie, it was a book and before that it was part of Texas lore and before that it was a true story of the 1836 kidnapping of a Texas girl, Cynthia Ann Parker, by the Comanches. It is a fascinating journey from fiction to fact and takes us from the rugged plains of the American Southwest to Hollywood.

Holly Hall is a unique non-denominational Christian retirement community for persons 65 years of age or older. All proceeds from the Book Review series help to cover the cost of care for those residents who may no longer afford to do so.  All reviews are held at St. Luke's United Methodist Church 3471 Westheimer.  Tickets are $12 at the door.

Easter Lilies for our Sanctuary

Easter lily Would you like to honor a family member or friend at Easter and help us fill our chancel area with Easter lilies? If so, you can use the sign-up sheets in the Sunday bulletin or print the sign up sheet, fill it out and mail it to the church. If you write a check, please note "Easter Lilies" on the memo line. A Closing Prayer

Eternal God,
you draw near to us in Christ
and make yourself our guest.
Amid the cares of our daily lives,
make us attentive to your voice
and alert to your presence,
that we may treasure your word above all else.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God forever and ever. Amen.          from The Book of Common Worship
