Psalm 51:10-12

Rev. Harbison

As we are reliant on God's grace for forgiveness, we are also reliant on his spirit to lead us along the path of faithfulness. The psalmist implores that God create in him a clean heart and to lead him along the journey of faith. Not a journey of boring, unfulfilling faith, but a faith that is joyful and that allows us to be willing participants in God's grand scheme of life.

Are we really open to God's spirit working in us in this way? Do we want to focus, not on the world, but on what really matters? I think we often hide from God, not out of shame, but out of a fear of change and what that might mean in our everyday lives. Maybe this Lenten season, as we rapidly approach Easter, we can set aside our fears and let God's spirit work in our lives, transforming us into the new beings he promises we can be in Jesus Christ.

God Bless,

All Women Invited!
Keynote address by Rose Niles:
"Hidden Women of the Protestant Reformation"

Presbyterian Women invites all women to this year's Spring Gathering. It will be held Saturday, April 18, 9:30 a.m. at St. Philip PC, Houston.

You know Calvin, Luther, and Knox. You might have heard of Zwingli, Hus, and Bucer. But, do you know the amazing stories of Marie Dentière, Katharina Von Bora, or Marguerite de Navarre? Come learn hidden stories of courage and faith about women who shaped the Protestant Reformation. They have much to teach us about leading lives of courageous faith in our own seasons of transformation.

Keynote speaker Rev. Dr. Rose E. Niles, who is the Development
Officer in the Houston area representing Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, will reveal to us, "The Hidden Women of the Protestant Reformation." The Rev. Keatan King, Associate Pastor at St. Philip PC, will lead worship. Details about the event can be found on the presbytery website, click on Ministries on the top of the homepage. All women, regardless of whether in PW or not, are invited to attend this inspirational program which promises to enrich women of all ages in all walks of life of life.

A Closing Prayer

Dear God,
Lift our darkness, give us the hope of a new day,
Call us from our wavering,
Call us from the depths,
Call us to higher ground,
Call us to yourself,
call us to that confident position where you are our rock and our salvation,
Call us to follow you
until the spires appear at the world's rim,
Call us to persistent living,
Call us to courageous living. Amen.                             by Robert D. Young, from Let Us Pray
