The Souper Bowl of Caring February 1
Our Confirmation Class has been busy over the last two Sundays telling you all about their Souper Bowl of Caring collection to benefit Star of Hope. This Sunday morning they will be asking you to make a contribution to make their collection a generous one!
The Souper Bowl of Caring began in 1990 with a Presbyterian youth group in Columbia, South Carolina. A simple pastoral prayer, inspired a movement: "Lord, even as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those who are without a bowl of soup to eat." An aggregate of over $100 million has been donated to soup kitchens, food banks, and other charities in communities across the country since it's inception. The nation's biggest weekend of football is turning into it's largest weekend of giving.
