Woman's Club

120 years of service
On May 2nd, the club celebrated 120 years of volunteering, fundraising and making a difference. The Club is the oldest civic organization in Cheshire, formed in 1893 as the Cheshire Literary Club. Dues were 25 cents and met twice a month, with 10 members, both men and women. In 1897 the club joined the State Federation of Women's Club and the men dropped out. In 1916 the club changed its name to the Cheshire Women's Club.

Benefit dinner for local family
Club members helped sponsor a benefit dinner on May 11 for a family who lost everything, including two dogs in a house fire back in April. The ladies donated all the beverages for the event, raffle basket; cherry tomato plants and worked the dinner serving the food, beverages and running the door prizes. It was a successful evening that warmed the heart.

Officer installations
The installation ceremony was performed by Mary Vaca; the theme was her own variation on floriography (the language of flowers), which was spot-on and very informative. Congrats to the new officers and good luck and best wishes for a successful and hassle-free club year.
