GFWC Harwinton Woman's Club
2012 Harwinton Woman's Club Quilt has created its 35th annual quilt.  This year the quilt celebrated author, Anne Morrow Lindbergh and her book, GIFT FROM THE SEA. Twenty women hand- appliqued and hand-embroidered original patches as their "gifts" from their talents to produce our amazing GIFTS FROM THE SEA QUILT. It was hand-quilted at 16 Quilting Bees.  Some lucky person will win this work of art by purchasing a raffle ticket for $2.00. Proceeds will benefit community projects, local charities and scholarships. Tickets may be purchased at the September 8th board meeting or at the Harwinton Fair, October 6&7.
Torrington Woman's Club
On August 9th GFWC The Torrington Woman's Club  set up a booth at the Main Street Marketplace.  This is a street fair  which is held every Thursday  from 5-9  during July and August in downtown Torrington.   This being our 90th anniversary we thought it would be a good opportunity to boast a bit about what the Torrington Woman's Club has done for the community.

We proudly hung our new banner and on the tables displayed articles, pictures and posters of some of the many local and state altruistic projects that were accomplished over the years since we were founded in 1922.  We also thought this information might create interest in new membership.
As a special treat we handed out our anniversary pens and candy.
