JANUARY 21 BOARD MEETING COMMENTS
Arts and Crafts - Clubs and Districts should direct their questions regarding the Arts and Crafts Contest to Carol Bellucci. Carol has kindly assumed this responsibility while Lucille Shearer is recuperating. The category list is on the GFWC/CT website and was placed in each club mailbox at the January meeting.
Please note the rules regarding the GFWC Photography contest. For those concerned about the deadline for entry into the GFWC contest that is prior to our State Convention, we have made arrangements with GFWC to extend our deadline to the Monday after the convention.
Domestic Violence Awareness and Education
At the January meeting, the Board approved the support of the CT Coalition Against Domestic Violence policy agenda for 2012. GFWC/CT is being asked by the Coalition to host Informational Coffees with the intent to educate and share the agenda with state lawmakers and members of the club communities. Please see the attached policy agenda and outline of the Informational Coffees. This is a terrific opportunity for our clubs to advocate.

THE WOMEN'S CLUB OF MADISON
Christmas was special for members of The Women's Club of Madison this year. We were so happy to make some wishes come true for one of our military families in Groton, CT. We connected with our family through "Operation Homefront" and were given a wish list for the four children in this family. The only informat

ion we had about our family is that the dad is a "wounded warrior" and they had four children under the age of five. With very little time, our members went out and filled the wish lists and added some hats and gloves and gift cards just to make the day a little more special for the entire family. It is just wonderful to have so many caring and generous members. We were so proud to give to those that have given so much for us and hope to do it again next year. |
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL ART FESTIVAL
I am very excited to inform our members of the new location for the Art Festival being held the weekend of March 23 through March 25, 2012. We have moved to Goodwin College in East Hartford, Connecticut. The campus is bright and beautiful, and we will be in the Community Room at the main entrance. More information will be forthcoming, including driving directions. All Clubs are encouraged to register their local High Schools for this event. Applications can be found on the GFWC-CT website. For any questions, please call me at (860) 693-1541 or e-mail me at auction46@comcast.net. If you would like to donate to our 'Pennies For Art' fund, which helps cover Awards for students, kindly mail them to our Treasurer, Hemlata Khona.
Thank you!
