Remembrance Tree
GFWC/CT District 7 Director,Linda Louise LaCasse, and the GFWC/CT Earth Angels of Somers have created a Remembrance Tree honoring the 61 Connecticut Military who have died since 2002 in the Iraq/Afghanistan Conflict.
With the help of the GFWC/CT Earth Angels of Somers, Linda researched, prepared and trimmed The Remembrance Tree with photo-stars of fallenConnecticut Service Members. The Tree was dedicated at the 2011 Veterans Day Program in Enfield at Asnuntuck Community College. Community and college officials, women's club members, students, veterans and Gold Star Mothers/Families participated in the Community Public Recognition of personal loss by reading the names of their loved ones and a statement about their service.
Vets OASIS V-Pin Awards were presented to District 7 Director, GFWC/CT Earth Angels and Asnuntuck Veterans Affairs Officer for creating this way to honor our Connecticut Fallen with the Dedication of The Remembrance Tree.
The Remembrance Tree will be moved to each Vets OASIS Campus in Connecticut to remain for one month during 2011-2012 years. At each site, the Gold Star Families of the deceased. Local officials and members of the community and college are invited to honor their Military Fallen in their Dedication Ceremony. |

A message from a GFWC partner:
Preparing the holiday to-do list?
Please, add one more thing ...
The decorations are out, the gift lists are being made, the holiday outfits are being chosen and the dinner menu is being planned.
But not everyone can look forward to this special time.
- Children of homeless families will sleep on the cold sidewalk. There is no money for coats.
- Babies will die because of preventable complications during and after labor.
- Children will go hungry when the schools close for the holiday break because their school lunch is often the only meal of the day.
Make this holiday season different for vulnerable children.
Consider a donation to INMED.
