FSG Joins Forces with PEO to Help Reduce Practice Management Stress
In today's rapidly changing landscape of health care, it may be difficult for office managers to keep up with responsibilities associated with human resources (HR) management. That is why COPIC FSG is pleased to announce a new relationship with Bene-Fit Solutions, a Professional Employer Organization (PEO). Utilizing a PEO to help manage complex employee-related matters allows you to focus on your practice and your patients.

What can you expect from Bene-Fit Solutions?

Many PEOs require you to use all of their services, but Bene-Fit Solutions is different by offering flexibility of services depending on each individual client. Some of their services include payroll processing, web-based HR access, tax filing, employee withholdings, employer taxes, and detailed customized reporting. HR services include updating and distributing employee handbooks, job offer letters, background checks, job descriptions, maintaining personnel and employee records, performance evaluations, and more. Bene-Fit Solutions can also assist with benefits administration, including COBRA or State Continuation.

The largest differentiator COPIC FSG has found with Bene-Fit Solutions is that your account is serviced in-person on a regular basis. Representatives will meet in your office on a weekly basis and are available by phone when needed.

COPIC FSG is excited to collaborate with Bene-Fit Solutions due to their high level of service, professionalism and ethical regard. Please contact Andrea Levine at (720) 858-6287 for more information and quotes on how this service can potentially help your business.

Disability Insurance for Business Owners
Owning your practice is the same as running a small business. And as a business owner, you may be the primary driving force behind your business and income. But what would happen to your business and livelihood if you became injured and couldn't work?

According to the Council for Disability Awareness (CDA), one in four people entering the workforce will be disabled before retirement and can expect to be off the job for an average of 34.6 months, almost three years. And most disability leaves stem from major medical issues like heart attacks and cancer, rather than accidents.

Disability income for you and disability insurance for your business are two different issues. Read the article Disability Insurance for Business Owners by James Anderson at investopedia.com for key steps to consider when reviewing disability insurance options. Find out how to balance insurance for your business and family, as well as ideas to keep disability insurance affordable.

Contact Cary Lamb at (720) 858-6282 for more information or questions.
Does your Policy Cover Cybercrime?
A recent report by Symantec revealed that in 2015, 43% of cyber attacks were directed toward small to mid-sized businesses, and more than 420 million individual identities were exposed. The same report noted that email scams targeting employees have also increased 55%.

Cybercrime is criminal activity or a crime such as identity theft and phishing by means of the internet, a computer system, or computer technology. The worrisome fact is that not all business liability policies address cybercrime and some specifically exclude the coverage.

A cyber liability policy should include coverage for financial fraud, telecom fraud, and phishing attacks. Other considerations regarding cyber liability insurance include:
  • Cyber incidents caused by unknown acts prior to the inception date of the policy.
  • Business interruption expenses incurred due to the insured's cloud provider or web host suffering from outages.
  • Coverage for incidents such as fraudulent wire transfer requests.
  • Payment Card Industry (PCI) fines, penalties, and assessments.
  • Coverage for reputational harm.

The Federal Communications Commission also has a wealth of resources for small businesses needing cyber security assistance as well as a Small Biz Cyber Planner 2.0 tool to create a customized cyber security plan. Contact Mitch Laycock at (720) 858-6297 with questions or to schedule a complimentary insurance review.

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month
