Member visits

I spend time every month visiting members and learning about their businesses.  At the end of every visit I say something along the lines of, "The Chamber is all about engaging the business community to enhance a vibrant regional economy.  How we do that is up to the needs and interests of our members.  If you ever have a new idea for a Chamber initiative or comments about what we are already doing, please do not hesitate to give me a call.  Here's my business card."

Two thoughts.  First, every member should feel free to give me a call or send me an email to let me know how you think Your Chamber can better assist your business.  Second, if you would like to have me stop by and talk about your business, please don't wait for a phone call from the Chamber office.  My staff can only make so many appointments for me every month, but I have never turned down an invitation to meet with a member.

And if I don't see you soon... Consider this my business card.  Best wishes for a great summer.

Customized welding program fills workforce need

Mickayla Catlin is the first woman in her family to become a welder and the first person in her family to go to college. She is also the first woman to graduate from a customized welding program specifically designed to meet the workforce needs of Canby manufacturer JV Northwest (JVNW).

Last summer, JVNW faced a challenge in finding enough trained welding fabricators to meet the demands of their growing business. Customized Training and Development Services at Clackamas Community College proposed a solution: provide the training to qualified recruits on site.
