Ideal projects are those that are significant, self-sustaining, and have the ability to recognize and/or demonstrate a return on investment. Strong, local partnerships are highly encouraged. Funding may be awarded to public, private and nonprofit organizations whose proposals demonstrate a benefit to the greater public interests of tourism development, promotion, and/or marketing.

Why refinance?

As it turns out, many people who think they should refinance really shouldn't; and many who should, don't or can't.  The question homeowners should ask themselves is, "Does refinancing make sense and will we benefit?"  Unfortunately there is no simple answer to that simple question.  The answer depends on the current situation, which includes current interest rate, remaining loan term, type of loan, value of the home, short and long term plans for the home and many more unique factors.

Oregonians are invited to help craft a vision for Willamette Falls
Planning will help spark economic redevelopment and shape a public destination

Oregon City will lead a public visioning, master planning and rezoning process designed to help transform a former paper mill alongside Willamette Falls into a regionally significant economic redevelopment project and visitor destination.

Oregonians will be invited to shape the historic 23-acre site in collaboration with Oregon City, Metro, the State of Oregon and Clackamas County. The resulting vision could reconnect Oregonians with North America's second largest waterfall, as well as an important cultural site for native tribes and significant fish and wildlife habitat along the Willamette River. It will also support Oregon City's vision for the future and reinvigorate the downtown as a hub of employment, shopping, business, tourism and housing. Public and stakeholder dialog could begin as soon as May.

The purpose of this Request for Proposals is to select a Consulting Team to assist the City of Oregon City, in cooperation with the bankruptcy trustee, in completing a Master Plan and Rezoning of the former Blue Heron Paper Mill Site.

TriMet TriMet releases Fiscal Year 2014 budget with good news for riders

TriMet released its Fiscal Year 2014 budget, and while there remains uncertainty ahead, the agency expects that there will be no service cuts or fare increases.

The key foundation of the $485 million operating budget assumes that the arbitration award for the just-expired contract with the Amalgamated Transit Union is upheld and TriMet's offer stands, providing some breathing room and the ability to invest in critical infrastructure. However, TriMet still faces a future of service cuts and fare increases if the agency does not win the arbitration award challenge and prevail in making reforms in the upcoming contract.

TriMet What's that? New device on board TriMet buses improves ticket system

TriMet riders on the lines 17 and 70 noticed a difference when they purchase fares on the bus starting March 18. Instead of being handed a flimsy, hole-punched slip by the bus operator after putting cash or a ticket into the fare box, a more durable and legible ticket is popping out of a new onboard ticket printer. The bus tickets match those of MAX and WES, taking the confusion out of transferring. They have a foil security strip and the 2-hour tickets are good for just two hours.
