Executive Voice

From Board Chair

David Russell, Adventist Health / Adventist Medical Center

David RussellHappy New Year!

Best wishes for a successful and productive new year. Your chamber board and staff are committed to work hard to represent the needs of our membership and to support growth in 2013.

Your Chamber has successfully worked through a change in leadership this past year as our new President & CEO, David Kelly, replaced Susan Lehr in July. With David's leadership and support Your Chamber continues to focus on three key areas as we begin the New Year: 1) Membership growth; 2) Intentional engagement with our city councils and local business alliances; and, 3) Public policy representing issues important to business.

Membership growth is key to having a healthy, successful, financially stable chamber. With this in mind, each member of the Board of Directors has committed to personally recruit two new chamber members by March 2013. The NCCC board members have challenged each other to see who can recruit the most new members and are also issuing a challenge to each of you as NCCC members to help recruit new members during the first quarter of 2013. As current members, we each have stories to share about how chamber membership has benefited our business and helped our communities be great places to live, work and play. Let's share the value of chamber membership with non-members and invite them to join our chamber. David Kelly and Laura Edmonds will be happy to follow up on leads you may have with chamber membership details. Working together, as business and community leaders, we can grow the positive impact of the North Clackamas Chamber of Commerce in 2013.

Need money?

You become eligible to win $500 when you participate in the Board Challenge. The Board Challenge is a contest to encourage current Chamber members to recruit new members. The contest begins immediately and ends at noon on March 20.

The Board has issued a team challenge to the Ambassadors, general membership, and staff to see which group can bring in the most new members. Every Board member, Ambassador, and Chamber member will receive $20 in Chamber bucks for each new member recruited. As an extra incentive, the Ambassador and general member who recruit the most members during this time period will both receive a fantastic gift basket of prizes. But the Board Challenge offers you an opportunity at a much bigger prize. Every member who recruits a new Chamber member during this contest will be allotted one raffle ticket for each member recruited. The winner of the drawing will receive the grand prize of $500.

Membership forms are available on the chamber website or by clicking here. Print some out and start talking to your business associates about the benefits you have derived from your chamber membership!

New Century PlayersCommunity theater company performs award winning play

New Century Players presents "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" in February at the Milwaukie High School Blackbox Theater. Six adolescent outsiders in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't make you a loser. The show's Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.
