President's Message

THANKSGIVING CHAMBER STYLE
In the spirit of tomorrow's holiday, I would like to tell you some of the things for which I am thankful. I am thankful for the volunteer members of Your Chamber's Board of Directors - for their dedication, commitment, and vision. I am thankful for the opportunity they have given me to work with all of you.
I am thankful for all the other volunteers whose efforts make Your Chamber capable of having a positive impact on the local business climate - for the Ambassadors, the Forum Lunch Team, the Education Team, the Leadership Team, the Finance Committee, and the Public Policy Team. I am thankful for all the sponsors who make our operations and events possible. I am also thankful for the top notch staff we have at Your Chamber - Laura Edmonds, Diane Bonczkowski, and Rhonda Winters. They do a great job on your behalf and they make me look good.
Lastly, I am thankful for modern transportation. Moving here this summer was hard enough with planes and moving vans. I can't imagine what it was like with a covered wagon on the Oregon Trail. ☺ Happy Thanksgiving everyone and remember to give me a call if you would like to become more involved in Your Chamber's team!

Chamber member receives award as family business
The Excellence in Family Business Awards Program, presented yearly by Oregon State University's Austin Family Business Program, was founded in 1988 to applaud the accomplishments and contributions of family businesses for their innovation, entrepreneurship, commitment, and heart.
Generations LLC was very honored to be recognized as the 2012 Large Family Business of the Year winner. (They were awarded in 1999 as the New Business of the Year by the program.)
The Generations Founding Family submitted applications and essays after being nominated and was interviewed at length. They were delighted to share their deeply held mission and vision that guides their business, their passion for creating innovative life-enhancing home and work environments that their residents and employees want to recommend to others, and their sense of strength and unity that stems from being a family company.

CCC will ask community to 'Imagine Clackamas'
Clackamas Community College (CCC) will mark its 50th year of service to the district in 2016. As the college approaches this milestone, the Board of Education is seeking input from the community to shape the future. On Monday, November 19, the college launched the "Imagine Clackamas" online community engagement survey. The community engagement survey asks community members, as well as students, what they value most about CCC and how the college can best meet training and education needs in the future. The survey is one aspect of Imagine Clackamas, a year-long community engagement outreach process.

Seasonal bell ringers needed
Businesses and civic organizations are needed to volunteer time to ring kettles in our area for the The Salvation Army. The Salvation Army Seasonal Bell Ringers are needed for the kettle season that starts November 15th through December 24th. Each hour a volunteer mans the kettle means that more money can go to help those that need it during this time of year. Please call 503.611.8972 X 211 and talk to Andrew for more information or if your group would like to volunteer.
Something fun is happening on the 24th of November at all local Fred Meyer stores. There will be two kettles at each stand. One marked U of O, the other OSU and they will have their own kettle "Civil War" to see which kettle brings in the most. So get your team together in their "TEAM WEAR" and sign up to ring.
