President's Message

STORM PREPARATION
Being from the eastern part of the country, I am keeping a close eye on reports about the Megastorm - hurricane Sandy, as she prepares to unleash her wrath on the entire Northeast. Flooding, high winds, downed trees and power lines are major concerns for many of my friends and family.
That got me thinking about how ready this area was for a severe storm. PGE is continually planning for their response to a major storm in Portland and Clackamas County. Linked is a diagram explaining how PGE responds to the various levels of power outages that come with a natural disaster. There is also a link to a publication that explains what steps each of us need to take to be prepared for such an emergency.
Let's hope the Megastorm is overhyped, but let it also prompt us to be prepared for whatever this winter might dole out to those of us in North Clackamas!

Business leaders share insights!
If you missed the October 24th Forum Luncheon you missed the opportunity to hear from three of our local iconic business leaders and how they've successfully transitioned through economic challenges and corporate ownership changes.
"Best Luncheon Ever" "Fabulous" were some of the descriptors of used by attendees after it was over!
Dennis Gilliam of Bob's Red Mill, Michael Powell with Powell's Books and Shobi Dahl of Dave's Killer Bread were simply wonderful, enlightening and funny in the stories they shared with the crowd. They gave practical, matter of fact feedback and advice when asked how they've accomplished so much in their tenure with their organizations.
Our appreciation goes out to these valued members of our community for taking the time to share with us their thoughtful insights and to our event sponsors Columbia State Bank and Bob's Red Mill for making it all possible.

Clackamas County conducts 'listening post' on Ballot Measure 3-401
Clackamas County staff will be conducting a "listening post" discussion with interested members of the public on Thursday, November 1, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm to discuss the effect on Ballot Measure 3-401 on ongoing county activities. Measure 3-401 was passed by the voters in September, and precludes the Board of Commissioners from authorizing the use of "county resources" for public rail transit." Measure 3-401 doesn't provide clear answers to a number of questions, and the county would like to engage the public in deciding the best way to proceed.
