Dear Lincoln Families,

The CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) test is still ahead for our 3rd-5th grade students. The testing window at Lincoln is May 16-31.
Students will be testing in their
classroom with their teacher. They will have unlimited time to complete both the Language Arts & Math sections of the test.
Our students are well prepared for this assessment. Our teachers have been both creative and rigorous in designing instruction that is based upon the Common Core Standards. Please make sure your student attends school during the test dates unless they are ill. We want all of our students to test with their classmates. The best way for you to help prepare them is to make sure they get a good night's sleep, have a good breakfast, and keep any anxiety low. Our message to our students is that they are ready and that all we want is for them to take it seriously and do their best. Thank you for reinforcing this message with them.
Outdoor Education is next week. Everyone here is very excited about this amazing trip. Parents of 5th graders, please make sure you review the paperwork you received at the Outdoor Ed. parent night so that your child has everything they will need for a week in the wilderness. Our intrepid 5th grade teachers will be contacting me daily to share how things are going, and I plan on visiting Wednesday morning. I will email families every day to share how students and teachers are doing. Do keep your fingers crossed for good weather.
This Saturday is the BCE Dinner Dance. I hope you have pulled those prom gowns and tuxes out of the closet and dusted them off for this great event. Many of the important programs at Lincoln are funded by your support of BCE. The generosity of the Lincoln community is a given. Thank you in advance for your support of our VAPA Program, our PE Specialists, our 4th/5th grade instructional aide, our Math Coach, our Technology Integration Specialist, and our Music Program through your contribution to BCE.
Sincerely, Pat

PARENT ED: THE UPSIDE OF STRESS, APRIL 27

Forget everything you thought you knew about the effects of stress and begin to see it through a different lens. Stanford psychologist and bestselling author Kelly McGonigal, Ph.D., delivers a startling message: Stress isn't bad.
In The Upside of Stress, McGonigal highlights new research indicating that stress can, in fact, make us stronger, smarter, and happier-if we learn how to embrace it. McGonigal combines science, stories, and exercises into an engaging and practical presentation that is both entertaining and life-changing. Whether you are parenting young children or in the midst of navigating the teenage years, you won't want to miss this important evening.
Wednesday, April 27, at 7 pm
Capuchino High School Theater
1501 Magnolia Ave, San Bruno (1.5 miles north of Burlingame, just off El Camino)
