Principal's Note

Dear Lincoln Families:

On Tuesday night I had the opportunity to share Lincoln's Site Plan with the Board of Trustees. This plan was developed with the support of parents and teachers on School Site Council. I am always proud to have the opportunity to highlight the amazing work being done at Lincoln every day and this was no exception. The purpose of this site plan is to set goals and define action steps that will allow us to continually improve student learning for all students at Lincoln. While the education available at Lincoln is strong there is always room for improvement. As Vince Lombardi said, "Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence."

The plan has three main goals for improvement. The first two are academic goals, one in math and one in literacy. The third goal focuses on School Culture and Social-Emotional Learning. I will be sharing these goals and action steps at the next PTA meeting on March 3rd and will be posting them on the Lincoln website.

I also was able to share the wonderful work being done at Lincoln during our first of three kindergarten tours. It was great to look out at the excited and nervous faces of our incoming families. We have two more tours scheduled. The next tour is Friday, January 22nd, at 10 am and the final tour is Thursday, January 28th, at 1:15 pm. Please remind your friends and neighbors to attend. Kindergarten enrollment is right around the corner as well. It will start bright and early on Monday, February 1st, in the MPR.

Lincoln's Student Council has begun creating weekly "news" programs to be shown in each classroom. These programs bring students announcements about school events, weather reports, and student-made videos of happenings at school. They are lively and interesting and will help to keep our students connected and informed. Thank you to our Student Council and to Mrs. Farrell for their hard work.

Thank to the leadership of Student Council and Mrs. Glover, we are also collecting socks and gently used coats for families who would otherwise do without. As the temperatures dip and the rains continue, it is heartwarming to see our students think about the needs of others less fortunate. Please donate to this worthy cause.

There will be no school on Monday, January 18th, in celebration of the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Our students are learning about Dr. King's impact on the country and will celebrate his achievements at a students-only assembly on January 20th. Thank you to our teachers for teaching our students the value of caring and working to make this a better world.

Sincerely,
Pat

HOOVER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWS
Dear Hoover School Parents/Guardians,

The long awaited opening of Hoover Elementary School is drawing near!

We are very excited about the opening of the school in fall of 2016. Last Spring, during the Town Hall Meetings, we discussed the attendance area and how the new boundaries may affect families. All parents in the Hoover student attendance area received a letter in November welcoming them to the new Hoover School. Along with this letter was a Hoover Confirmation Form. All Hoover families were asked to complete the form so the District can confirm space at Hoover for next year.

The next step in the process is to create the list of Hoover attendees based on the information sent to the District. For those families attending Hoover School next year, mark your calendars for a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 20, 2016.

If you have any questions regarding this form or Hoover Elementary, please feel free to contact my office at 650-259-3805

Best,
Dr. Maggie MacIsaac
BSD Superintendent
