Dear Lincoln Families:

Let the celebration begin!! The last few weeks of school are filled with fun activities that allow students, teachers, staff, and families to celebrate the end of another exciting and successful school year together. Open House is one of those events and this year's did not disappoint.

It warmed my heart to see families huddled over students' desks as they showed off the amazing work accomplished during the school year. Thanks to the dedicated work of our teachers, our students have grown and learned so much, both academically and socially. Thanks to the amazing partnering of our families, Lincoln has thrived this year, which has allowed our students to thrive.

I have some end of the year Thank Yous to give to some of our most unheralded volunteers. First of all, thank you to all of the editors of the Links. The entire community is kept informed thanks to the late night work of a few people. On more than one occasion this year, they have needed to reformat the newsletter at the last minute because your principal's letter was tardy. A special thank you to Gary Rainville, Jennifer Carroll, Katie Storey, and Karen Hirschmann.

Thank you also to the incredible ROAR editorial staff.  Next year's Editors-in-Chief have some very big shoes to fill. This year's team, Jacqueline Rainville, Molly Abramson, and Chloe VanVoorhis, have been enthusiastic and dedicated in their leadership. All of our student editors have worked incredibly hard to ensure that this Lincoln tradition thrives. I can't thank our amazing parents enough for all of their behind the scenes work. Sandra Osumi, Elana Lieberman, and Andrea VanVoorhis. If not for them, the ROAR would not have been possible this year.

Field Day is tomorrow. Mrs. Rossi and our volunteers are preparing a wonderful morning of fun for all of our students. This is the final opportunity for our students to gather together and enjoy each other's company. Lincoln has grown over the past few years making full school activities more difficult.  This chance to celebrate together is all the more precious because of how rare it is.

As the year comes to an end, please remember to check your student's lunch account to make sure it is current. Please also check with the library to make sure all books are returned and all fines are paid.  Remember that Friday is an Early Release day. Students will be dismissed at 1:30.

Thank you and here's to a wonderful last few weeks!!

Sincerely,

Pat

A MESSAGE FROM THE PTA

PTA NEWS

Great Work at Open House

What a pleasure to see our students buzzing around Open House eager to share their hard work with their families last night!  This annual showcase reminds us not only how much our children are learning but also how fabulous our Lincoln teachers are.

The Final Countdown

Even though there are only two weeks of school left, there is still plenty to accomplish!  We hope to see you at the annual Volunteers Luncheon and Founders Day award event next Thursday, June 4th.  The lunch is brought to us by our terrific Lincoln staff.  After a little noshing and visiting, this year's PTA Founders Award recipients will be recognized.

Join us for our last PTA meeting of the school year on Friday, June 5, at 8:45 a.m. in the library.  Topics will include summer Lincoln happenings while we're away, approving a draft budget for 2015/16 and vote on year end allocation of PTA funds.

Breadtags!

Lincoln collected a significant number of breadtags this year that was passed onto Burlingame High School for their ongoing campaign.  We helped them reach their goal of 50,000 breadtags which earns a wheelchair for someone in Africa!  Collecting is done for this year, but we'll take up the cause again in the Fall.

Have fun at Field Day tomorrow- don't forget it's an early dismissal day at 1:30!

Best,

June Hee and Melinda Saunders

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT LINCOLN

SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR LINCOLN STAFF
As we end another successful, wonderful school year, let's not only say thanks to our teachers, but also to the support staff who keep the school running smoothly mostly behind the scenes.

There is an envelope in the office titled "Support Staff Gifts." Whatever you donate will be greatly appreciated. All donations will be picked up Monday, June 8, and divided for gift cards. Cash is preferred. Thanks!

If you have any questions, please contact Sue Worrall at suewrrll@yahoo.com.
LINCOLN LIBRARY

Please scour your bookshelves and return any Lincoln library books. ALL BOOKS ARE DUE BACK NOW. Students with books still out at Noon on 5/29 will have a notice sent home.

If your child has lost a book this year, please pay the $15 replacement fee.  The Lincoln library has lost $750 in books JUST THIS YEAR.  If you are not sure whether your child has lost a book, please ask our librarian, Ms. Fleming.
PTA ART REFLECTIONS 2015-16

Looking for something your kids can start this summer?  Have them participate in Lincoln's 3rd annual PTA Reflections Art competition.  Students should create an original piece of art based on the 2015-16 theme: "Let your Imagination Fly".  They can compete in six art categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, music competition, photography, and visual arts.  Students may enter in more than one art category.

Entries are due in early Fall 2015.   For more information, contact Kyong Yi at kyongahyi@yahoo.com.

BAND INSTRUMENTS

All Burlingame band instruments that have been on loan to Gr 4/5 students MUST be returned by June 8 for summer cleaning and repair.  Please bring them to the school office.

NEW FAMILY BUDDY PROGRAM

Buddy Families Still Needed

Thank you to all of you who have volunteered to be Buddy families to next year's new incoming kindergarten and transfer families!  We are still seeking more current Lincoln families to be a support and liaison for these new families.

As a Buddy family, you will reach out to the new Lincoln family over the summer and help with the transition in September.  You need not be here for the whole summer to participate in the program.  Most communications are done via email, although some families do choose to arrange informal get-togethers or park play dates prior to the start of school.

We have lots of new families coming to Lincoln in the fall, and having someone reach out to them and serve as a resource to answer questions and provide information about Lincoln is a big help.  This is also a fun opportunity if you have a kinder sibling joining in the fall and want to meet other incoming kinders. If you are interested, please contact Felynn Haberecht at
