F ederación Inter Americana de Juristas Cristianos (FIAJC) now a registered NGO in Uruguay
Dear Friends,
Buenos dias from our friends in Buenos Aires and Montevideo. I just returned from spending last weekend with the advocates from across Latin America who gathered together for two purposes. First, the country leaders gathered together in Montevideo, Uruguay where we formally signed the registration for the Federación Inter Americana de Juristas Cristianos under Uruguayan law which now provides standing to appear before international and national agencies. While in Uruguay, FIAJC also elected a new slate of officers to lead for the next two years. They ask for your prayers as they received a very serious responsibility before the Lord and all their colleagues in the region.
The new Consejo Directivo (Executive Committee): President, Xavier Velez (Ecuador); Secretary, Bettina Chamorro (Paraguay); Treasurer, Lorenzon Hernandez (Guatemala). Represente Legal: Maria Gianella Aloise (Uruguay). Consejo Fiscal (supervising board members): Rodolfo Juarez (Cuba), Ivette Montes (Puerto Rico), Uziel Santana (Brazil). Consejo Deliberativo (Deliberative Council or board of directors): Chair, Nina Balmaceda (Peru/US); Vice-Chair, Lidia Garcia Torralba (Argentina), Secretary, Alfredo Tauber (Paraguay). Members (two from each national organization of FIAJC and Individual members): Argentina, Daniel di Paolo; Brazil, Uziel Santana & Enio Araujo; Ecuador, Roberto Diaz & Pedro Rivadeneira; Guatemala, Elizabeth de Larios & Gladys Delgado; Paraguay, Daniel Varela; Puerto Rico, Ivette Montes & Sonimar Losada; Uruguay, Gianella Aloise & Rosana Guillen; Cuba (special status due to difficulty of official registration in country), Rodolfo Juarez & Georgina Ortega. Associate Members (Individual capacity): Juanita Ambrosio (Brazil),Dorcas Henriquez (Costa Rica), Brent McBurney (USA), David Perez (Colombia), Anna Lee Stangl (USA).

Aires for three days where we were joined by additional advocates from Argentina to Cuba and almost everywhere in between for the 10th CLAC regional conference. As Nina described our time: "The Lord gave us a time of mutual edification, friendship, learning, and we hope you all went home with a vision and renewed energy to continue working for peace, justice and abundant life for everyone in our communities and countries." The fellowship was amazing, the workshop speakers were excellent, the Tango was entertaining.
Thank you so much for your prayers for all of our proceedings. We are grateful for your continued prayers and financial support for the work of Advocates. Thank you.
May the Lord bless and keep you in His perfect . . . Gracia y paz,
Brent McBurney President & CEO Advocates International
