Religious Liberty Partnership Releases
Istanbul Statement on Syria

Dear Friends

Thank you so much for your continued prayers for the cause of religious liberty around the globe.  As you know, Advocates International is a member of the Religious Liberty Partnership, which just convened its annual Consultation last month in Istanbul, Turkey.

Each year at the Consultation, the RLP issues a statement regarding a pressing issue that requires prayer and action. This year on April 15, we released a statement on the crisis in Syria asking the U.N. Special Envoy for Syria to pay particular attention to "vulnerable ethnic and religious minorities," and calling for a designated day of prayer for the country.

"There was overwhelming support at our 2013 Consultation in Istanbul to speak out about the urgent situation facing Christians and other religious minorities in Syria at this present time," said Mervyn Thomas, RLP Chairman and CEO of Christian Solidarity Worldwide, UK.  "We urge Christian leaders around the world to respond to this call to prayer and action now in order to bring peace and stability to this troubled nation."
