Advocates/CLS partnership:
3rd Justice Conference in Beni, DRC, to be held April 22-26, 2013

Dear Frien
ds,

We were greatly encouraged to hear that the 3rd Justice Conference at the Universite Chretienne Bilingue du Congo (UCBC) in Beni, DRC will take place in April after a delay from last fall.  We last reported that the conference, set to take place in October, was cancelled due to security threats.  Thankfully, local contacts in Congo have reported that the situation in eastern Congo has remained peaceful and the plans for the conference are moving forward.

Ben Chappell, a CLS member attorney from San Antonio, Texas, who has been engaged since 2005 informs us that the "two primary objectives will continue to be to hear from and encourage the indigenous Christian lawyers leading the groups from Bunia, Butembo and Beni which began after the 2010 conference, and to explore possibilities for a law school at UCBC."  This ongoing relationship between the CLS Chapter in San Antonio and colleagues in the DRC is one of the leading partnerships between CLS and Advocates International.

Please continue to pray for peace in Congo and for the planning of this key conference, and for safe travels for those involved.

We are grateful for your continued prayers and financial support for the work of Advocates. Thank you.

May the Lord bless you with His perfect . . .

Grace and peace,

Pray for Younis Masih, victim of misuse of Pakistan's
blasphemy law

Please pray today for Pakistani Christian, Younis Masih, and the advocates who are representing him in his previously postponed hearing on blasphemy charges.  We shared last week in a Prayer Alert that the January 17 hearing was delayed by the judges due to the presence in the courtroom of a mob of mullahs.

The rescheduled hearing is set for January 23.  Thanks for your prayers.

conference: REGISTER NOW!
Hong Kong, 4-8 April 2013

We are pleased that our friends from Advocates Asia have chosen to join with Advocates International in Hong Kong for their 12th regional conference.  Please continue to pray for the Lord's provision for all who are planning to attend the "Transforming the World Through Faith and Law" conference.

Our agenda includes religious liberty, rule of law, peace & reconciliation, among other key issues, and we are encouraged by the participation of the entire law faculty of Handong International Law School.  Moreover, we are expecting attorneys and law students from around the globe.

The registration website for the conference, "Transforming the World Through Faith & Law," which will be held in Hong Kong in April 2013 is open.  We invite you to CLICK HERE to begin the registration process.

However, because of the limited size of this conference, those interested in attending will need to contact their regional boards or the AI headquarters office to confirm the availability of space.

Thank You for Your Financial Support

AI is not a recipient of government funding and is solely dependent upon the financial contributions of those who believe in its mission, thereby enabling it to serve "clients" ranging from heads of state seeking to implement constitutional reforms to persecuted and imprisoned believers sentenced to death for their faith. We are most grateful and thank you for whatever financial support or voluntary service you can provide in support of AI's mission. Here's how you can help: (more)
