Serving Those Who Serve The Homeless
Being the Voice of and for the Homeless - Homelessness Awareness Day

One of the four programs of the Coalition for the Homeless is Public Education. While this can mean many things from maintaining our website, sharing information on social media, and even publishing this and our other newsletters; the most important part of our Public Education program is serving as the voice of and for homeless individuals.

We accomplish this through several avenues, but most recently, the Coalition led a bus trip of nearly 20 local homeless service providers and citizens to Austin for Homelessness Awareness Day.

Spring Conference Debrief

We may have said this before, but 2015 has definitely been a busy year for all of those in the homeless services world in Houston, Harris County and Fort Bend County. As such, we would like to invite you to attend our Spring Conference Debrief on April 10.

Space is limited - click here to sign up today.

This debrief will be held from 10:00 am - noon in the Ground Floor Conference room at 600 Jefferson Street, Houston, TX 77002. The discussion facilitated will focus on the National Conference on Ending Family and Youth Homelessness (held February 19-20), the Supportive Housing = Healthcare Summit (held March 31- April 2), and Homelessness Awareness Day (April 2).

This event is free, and CEUs will be offered for LMSWs, LPCs, and LCDCs. Parking will be validated for the garage attached to 600 Jefferson. Click here for more information and to register. If you have any additional questions, please contact Gary Grier at ggrier@homelesshouston.org
We need your help - Help Card Web App Feedback

In late 2014, the Coalition for the Homeless unveiled a new "web app" format for its Help Card with the goal of better organizing the resources available in our community, as well as to be able to include a greater amount of information about each resource.

We could not have done this without the help of an amazing volunteer, Camille, who approached the Coalition with this idea. She applied for and was the recipient of an Albert Schweitzer Fellowship grant to undertake this work.

Now, as Camille wraps up her fellowship, she is looking for feedback on how this app functions, what works well, and what we can improve upon. We are looking for feedback from all users - from homeless service provider staff members to everyday citizens who may use it to search for services.

If you've used this new "web app," please click here to go directly to the very brief feedback survey. If you haven't had a chance to use the app yet, click here to give it a try, and when you're done, click the survey link located at the bottom of the app. If you have any questions, please email Sara Brown at sbrown@homelesshouston.org.

Thank you in advance for your help and feedback!
