Coalition Year In Review
2014 was a busy year for the Coalition for the Homeless, and all of the agencies who participate in The Way Home. As a system, we were able to house more than 2,200 chronically homeless individuals and more than 3,300 homeless veterans through The Way Home - a job well done!
At the Coalition, we serve agencies who serve homeless individuals through four programs: Research, Project Management, System Capacity Building, and Public Education. We strive to be the support that helps direct service providers work efficiently and effectively to house homleless individuals. We do this through services like HMIS administration, serving as lead agency to The Way Home, offering education, trainings, and networking opportunities, and serving as the voice of and for homeless people in our community.

Collaborative Communications Workshop
Did you know that the Coalition is now staffing a Communications Workgroup for The Way Home?
This network has no fees and is available to partner organization staff members who communicate with media, the public, donors, and other external groups. Participation in this workgroup includes twice-monthly electronic group updates/information exchanges, as well as networking opportunities and training workshops.
The first training workshop of 2015, "CoC 101" was held on March 3. Presented by Coalition President/CEO Marilyn Brown, this workshop provided attendees with a better understanding of our Continuum of Care (CoC), from its history to its evolution into "The Way Home." Attendees also discussed strategies for sharing the successes of The Way Home, while still highlighting their organization's unique contributions to the system.
We are all in this together! To get your organization's communicators connected, contact Sara Brown at sbrown@homelesshouston.org.
