Collaborative Communications Workshops: Media Relations
There is no doubt that working together collaboratively is a critical factor in the success we are experiencing in The Way Home. Agencies are focusing on what they do best, and partnerships are being solidified so housing interventions are being coupled with supportive services. However, collaboration also brings new challenges. One of those is how do individual agencies tell their stories in a way that highlights their agency work while still acknowledging the collaborative partnership? Because many of us are facing this dilemma, the Coalition for the Homeless is offering a series called Collaborative Communications Workshops.
The first topic covered will be Media Relations. It will be held on Tuesday, December 2, from 9:00 - 11:00 am at the Neighborhood Resource Center (815 Crosby Street, Houston, TX 77019). This training is open to all partner organizations, and will feature local experts presenting on topics including: Media P's and Q's, Social Media, Choosing a Spokesperson, and Changing the Dialogue. Registration is now open for this event - click here to reserve your spot. Contact Sara Brown at sbrown@homelesshouston.org with any questions.
This workshop series is being offered in support of the Coalition's mission to serve those who serve the homeless.

The Proof Is in the Numbers
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released its Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR) to congress in late October, which showed signs of progress throughout the U.S. toward ending homelessness.
Especially encouraging, as of 2014 our Continuum of Care (CoC) is no longer in the top 10 list of major cities with the largest homeless populations!
Congratulations Houston, Harris County, and Fort Bend County - let's keep up the good work! |
