Serving Those Who Serve The Homeless
Coalition Welcomes New Staff

The Coalition for the Homeless welcomed three new staff members this summer to help support its mission. Sophia Wong (Controller), Concetta Scerbo (Project Manager), and Nathalia Sams (Executive Assistant) all joined the Coalition's roster and will play vital roles within the organization.

Sophia brings a vast deal of accounting experience to the Coalition and will oversee all accounting operations as well as annual audit management. Concetta will bring her experience, most recently with the United States Air Force, to lead a variety of projects with the Coalition in support of the Continuum of Care. Nathalia's organizational skills will be put to good use as she supports the Coalition staff members.

"The addition of these women further our goal to work collaboratively with Houston-area homeless service providers and other partners involved in The Way Home," said Marilyn Brown, President/CEO at the Coalition. Click here to view the full staff roster.

HMIS 2014 Data Standards Update

As announced at the 3rd Quarter HMIS Forum, ClientTrack released their 2014 HUD Data Standards Service Package. The recent changes to HMIS are in accordance with new requirements from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Information was sent out to the HMIS community last week - click here to view detailed information on this upgrade. A video overview of the changes can also be viewed by clicking here

Further, the Coalition is offering trainings (at the Coalition office) and webinars (online) to ensure that the HMIS user community fully understands the upgrade and what this means for their user experience. Click here to view the online registration for trainings and webinars. As always, you can email hmis@homelesshouston.org for assistance, and the appropriate HMIS team member will contact you.
The Proof Is in the Numbers

The Way Home announced in September that it has housed more than 2,800 veteran households since January 2012. See below for an infographic on the progress being made toward ending veteran homelessness, and how Houston expects to reach "steady state."
