LECTURES AND FORUMS
Rachael Clark, lecturer
Department of Psychological Sciences
February 3

The new science of positive psychology is only about 15 years old and involves the study of positive emotions, institutions, and communities, the very best in people and places. To include everyone in the study of "the good life," people living in poverty must be part of the research.
Dr. Rachael Clark and her team collaborate with residents in an impoverished community to examine hope and meaning in life - two elements crucial to establishing and maintaining psychological health. Rachael will share her vision for and experiences with including every social class in her studies to improve the quality of life for all human beings.
Emma Gordon, junior, biology and chemistry
March 2

CSI. Law and Order. NCIS. The novels of Stieg Larsson. Audiences worldwide are captivated by books, TV series, and movies about the drama and mystery of forensic science. What is fact? What is fiction? Emma Gordon will sort it out for you. She'll distinguish the Hollywood magic from real elements of science used in criminal investigations. Having just completed a Comparative Forensic Science Program at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland, Emma will provide insights on forensic science and law enforcement training techniques. She will highlight the Scottish criminal justice system and compare it to those used not only in the United States but worldwide.
