Hello grads!

Well, we're over half way through the spring semester and, for many of you, that means graduation is drawing close. As you prepare to take the next step in your career, whether that means tackling the academic job market or stepping into an industry career, it's time to start thinking about negotiating your salary! While asking for more money or other benefits can seem intimidating or unpleasant, negotiation is an essential component of the job search. No matter what your field or industry, your initial salary will set the base for all future wage increases, meaning that a little bit of negotiating now can add up hefty sums over the course of your career.

In this issue, we offer advice on how to approach this touchy subject strategically and with grace. First, Trish shares her research on the ins and outs of negotiating an academic job offer.
