2015 Farm-to-Table Dinner

Join us for Pennypack Farm's
3rd Annual Farm to Table Dinner!

Friday, July 31, 2015 ~ 6:00pm

Fresh, seasonal fare will be prepared by local chef Matt Beck in an intimate, elegant setting. The meal will feature produce from Pennypack Farm, along with meat, cheese and more from other local farms.

Matt Beck has been a chef for over 25 years, and is excited to once again work with Pennypack Farm. Matt and his family have been farm members for several years. You may remember his pickled grapes from last year's dinner - so delicious, we've asked him to bring them back!

Working alongside Matt will be Catherine Wuenschel.  Catherine studied at Le Cordon Bleu, worked as an Executive Chef and has served as proprieter and chef of her own catering business for the last several years.  This summer, she is following her quest to learn how to grow vegetables using organic and sustainable methods by interning at Pennypack Farm & Education Center.

Appetizers and drinks will start at 6 p.m. Enjoy tasty bites, wine and seasonal specialty cocktails as you wander the beautiful garden with your friends.

Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m., with omnivore, vegetarian and gluten free options, followed by a delicious dessert. This truly will be a meal to remember!

Founding Member Margot Bradley Transitions Out of Her Long Term Role as PFEC Administrator

Margot Bradley After 13 years of wearing every conceivable hat and doing every imaginable job at Pennypack Farm and Education Center, Margot Bradley is taking a well-deserved break from the day to day management of the organization's business operations.

Margot's passion for PFEC has been the driving force behind its evolution from a novel concept back in 2001 to a highly successful and highly regarded CSA and educational resource for the growing community of people who want to connect to their food and to each other.  Her contributions to Pennypack as a founder, board member, volunteer, advocate, manager and visionary have enabled our non-profit organization to deliver on its mission to "Grow - Give - Teach" the values of sustainable agriculture in Eastern Pennsylvania.

Margot will remain very much involved in PFEC and will focus on working with our grant funders to ensure our continued commitment to bring healthy, sustainably grown food to the community, and to keep our education initiatives thriving.

Over the next month, the day to day management of administrative operations will be taken on by Russell Roeder who will serve as PFEC's Interim Administrative Director.  Russell has been an active volunteer, work share member, and served on the PFEC Board of Directors.  His 30 year professional experience in healthcare management will provide a sound basis for picking up where Margot leaves off.  Russell will use administrator@pennypackfarm.org as his email beginning Monday, July 20 and Margot's new email address will be  margotbradley@pennypackfarm.org.

I know I speak for everyone who has met and worked with Margot when I express our deep gratitude for all she has done for PFEC and for the thousands of people we have reached over the last 13 years.

Heather Hahn-Sullivan

President, PFEC Board of Directors

Tomato Canning/Freezing Shares

tomato canningThe paste tomatoes we grow for canning shares are doing well!

Shares are available to all CSA members.

60 pounds of Amish Paste for $80 ($1.33/lb)

Note: 60 pounds yields about 25 quarts of canned whole tomatoes.

New Procedures:

To reserve a canning share, download this reservation form, complete and email it back to katelyn@pennypackfarm.org

First come first served...we will create a waitlist that will be filled weekly if there is abundant production. We will confirm the reservation.

On your preferred week, you will get an email from Katelyn confirming the week and pickup day (all shares will be picked up at the Horsham site). Bring a check with you at time of pickup.

Your share will be prepacked in special boxes (please return the boxes for re-use). Ripeness: all of the tomatoes in your share will be at the same level of ripeness. It is likely that your tomatoes will need to sit at room temperature for 2-3 days to be optimal for canning/freezing. This will be variable, please take this into account.
