Dave Helmuth presents: the [worship] fertilizer

We made it to a New Year! (confetti!) So you get to watch this video

See yesterday, I was running late to start work, but as I walked by the unplayed piano, I hesitated. "Holy first fruits make the whole day holy." The thought pulled me to change my plans.

I brought 20-month old Juliana over in her highchair to be my playing partner and I began to sing and play to the Lord. (I was soon joined by our other three children which provided other opportunities to develop my patience and worship leading skill...but that's another Fertilizer!)

See, here's what I believe about first fruits, or setting aside the beginning of something as holy unto the Lord. Romans 11:16 (ESV) reads "If the dough offered as first fruits is holy, so is the whole lump, and if the root is holy, so are the branches."

If I set aside the first minutes of my day as holy, as given to the Lord, then they represent and launch the entire day as holy...wow!

So how do you want to start the whole year? What could your first fruits offering be?

For me, it's this...."breathing room: a night TO worship." And sure, you're welcome to come. I'm actually really excited because one of the developments from 2013 is the addition of several new worship coaches to this movement of "eradicating isolation and burnout so that leaders bear much fruit," and they'll be leading with me. I'm also celebrating working as a worship coach for the last FIVE years! It's this Monday, January 6th at 7:00 PM

But really, I'm just eager to kick off the year with a different kind of night to worship. Watch:
