Winter Has Arrived!

Hope you've been staying bundled up and warm, because it most certainly is here! WEN has still been out and about even with Jack Frost nipping at our nose! Here's a little update from us on what, we here at the Watershed Education Network, have been up to...

We ended October with our final School Stream Monitoring program at the Clark Fork River with St. Joseph's school; we were also very grateful to be the recipients of the Bulls, Blues, and Brews silent auction put on by the University of Montana Environmental Law Group.

November started with an inquisitive day with Willard Alternative High School students at Rattlesnake Creek. The Willard students explored the connections of Rattlesnake Creek with the wilderness area it flows from through topics such as water quality, biodiversity of aquatic species, and the biodiversity of life around the creek. We also began piloting our new climate change curriculum at Willard High School, in their environmental science class.

The Missoula Outdoor Explorers Mentoring Program spent Saturday, Nov. 8 with the hearty WEN team at the Milltown Dam State Park, where they learned about bugs, bull trout, and the history of the Milltown Dam.

Finally, we had our 11th groundwater program this season with Sussex School here at the WEN office.  In addition to learning about groundwater, they had the opportunity to go explore along the banks of the frozen Clark Fork River.

And finally, our Stream Team has been out collecting data along Lolo Creek and finished up the citizen science program this month as well.

Next month, save the date for our WEN Holiday Fundraiser Party, held at Ten Spoon Winery on Friday, December 12th.  Check out the link for more details, and continue to check this page for more as we get closer to the date!

ROCK STARS: Thank you Diana Ibarra for creating this sweet poster for WEN's holiday party. Also thanks goes out to Elsie Thomson for the new updates on the website - check them out! We couldn't do it without you!

SHOUT OUT: WEN is grateful for the ongoing support from
