The leaves are changing, the weather has cooled down, this can only mean one thing: Fall has finally arrived! So pull out your sweaters and mittens and come volunteer with us!

Fun fact: Western Larches are one of the only deciduous conifer trees in North America! Their leaves are needle-like and turn a pretty gold color each fall.

School Stream Monitoring
WEN will be leading a Stream Monitoring program with 7th graders from St. Joseph's School. Our stations will focus on collecting chemical, physical, and biological data on the Clark Fork River near the Boone and Crockett Club. Let us know if you can make it to either day for these monitoring sessions!

Investigations in Water
Willard Alternative High School will be joining WEN at Bugbee Nature Preserve to have a day to investigate water! Students will be brainstorming parameters they want to measure/monitor on the 15th and from there, WEN will provide these students with the tools to do so. Calling all interests, backgrounds and walks of life for this field trip!!! Students in the past have come up with a variety of subjects including but not limited to bird monitoring, photography, and macroinvertebrates! We'll know more next week!

School Stream Monitoring Assistance
As part of a University of Montana class, students will be taught our school stream monitoring project, much like you all have done at our training days. Your role as a volunteer will be to mentor these University students as they lead one of the stations. The students who are being taught at the stations are local home school classes.

Come and enjoy some live music provided by the Discount Quartet and help us tell the WEN story. This year, WEN is the beneficiary of the auction, an opportunity we are very excited about! If you would rather participate in the auction, tickets are $10 which gets you appetizers and drinks.

Stream Team
Join our weekend citizen science water monitoring program this fall! Learn to use stream monitoring equipment and contribute to our river health database. This season we are focusing on the Lolo Creek watershed. For more info, and to check the times, please email katiekinney1@gmail.com.
